Cantos del Final del Camino is a reworking of Cantos Perdidos from previous editions, although with substantial changes. Many of the old Lost Songs have been eliminated, while others have been revamped and some new ones have been added to the collection. This second edition has been revised by the author himself in 2020, adding to the first some stanzas that were composed later and other older ones that had not been incorporated before.

 This book appears at a time when art in all its branches is in clear decline, which is what usually happens in times of crisis. Poetry is precisely today one of the most cultivated arts, to the point that the number of so-called contemporary poets is legion. As regrettable as it may seem, it must be recognized that poetry worthy of the name is something difficult to find today.

 The book does not pretend to fill a gap, for the simple reason that the author does not see its content as anything other than the mere expression of feelings of love for Jesus Christ, which he would have liked to be more elevated and intense, but which, with that honesty, are at least charged with sincerity.

 The fact that they were written in versified form, without any pretension, may perhaps be of benefit to some and certainly of pleasure to others, so that the author would consider himself satisfied with the fruit of his work and grateful to those who consider it in some way. The work was in reality a mere attempt to reflect in some way, through the beauty of creatures, the grandeur of Divine Beauty. Before whose good intention, the fact that he succeeded or not is indifferent.

 Something that speaks in favour of the little book - which at this point does not cease to seem like a modest challenge - is the fact that it intends to speak of love at a time when, not only has the man of today (including the Church) stopped believing in it, but in accordance with the choice made for the lie in which he has embarked, he has replaced such a sublime concept with true monstrosities and aberrations to which, in an almost blasphemous way, he attributes the name of love. And the fact is that man, who was created to love, when he voluntarily turns away from the Source of all Love, can do nothing but try to replace it with substitutes, which begin as mere caricatures and then end up being revealed as true monstrosities.

 This short collection of verses takes its name from the fact that they were collected after a long journey and when the end of the Road is already in sight. This gives them the advantage of being able to look back and judge with perspective. For looking forward is for dreamers who are excited by future projects not yet realized, while looking back is proper to those who, after a long time of having experienced and carefully examined things, are in a position to judge them and obtain lessons of wisdom from them; as happens with History, which is why it is said of it that it is the Teacher of Life . And it is also proper to the walker who, tired and overwhelmed, stops for a moment at the edge of a road to take a break and stop for a few moments, while he takes a few breaths of fresh air, listens to the birdsong and inhales the aroma of the flowers of a nearby rose garden. Something that he comes to do precisely when the end of his journey is approaching,

 where the sidewalk ends
and the hard work is left behind.
